 How To Check for Faulty or Bad Camshaft Sensor

Step 1- Remove the air intake box.

To fix the issue with the Camshaft Position Sensor, you have to take it out. However, you must remove the air intake box before you reach the sensor with your hands in the compartment. Remember to check the wiring harness and remove the bolts carefully.

Step 2 – Disconnect the mass airflow sensor.

Once you remove the air intake box, get your negative battery cables off to disconnect the mass air flow sensor. Leave the electrical connector on until you take out the Camshaft Position Sensor.

Step 3 – Pull out the Camshaft Position Sensor.

After disconnecting the air flow sensor, detach the Camshaft Position Sensor but do not pull on the wiring harness yet. 

Step 4- Disconnect the wiring harness.

Disconnect the wiring harness as soon as you take the Camshaft Position Sensor out. If there is a problem with the sensor position, try to put back the Camshaft Position Sensor carefully in the right place. Check if the error code is still there. Step 5- Hook up with a new Camshaft Position Sensor.

If the Camshaft Position Sensor has gone wrong, you must replace it with a new one. Just put the new Camshaft Position Sensor back from the exact place where you took the old one out. And connect the wiring and harness and put the air intake box accordingly.
